About Us...
Our Mission
Our Mission is to provide a safe, caring environment for homeless and
abandoned companion animals until they can be placed with loving families, and
to promote humane values in our communities. In addition to caring for the
animals the shelter also provides community outreach and humane education
programs.
Description
We currently have contracts with the towns of Camden, Rockport,
Lincolnville and Islesboro. We have a full staff ready to help you in finding
the perfect pet for you and your family. We invite you to visit or, better yet,
volunteer. You just may find that walking a dog, petting the cats or cleaning a
room will give you a sense of satisfaction and peace. The animals would love to
see you and so would we. CRARL is a no-kill facility, caring for animals with
exceptional love and attention.
History
The Camden-Rockport Animal Rescue League began in 1974 when concerned
animal lovers realized that a shelter was needed in the mid coast area for
homeless animals. The shelter grew quickly, providing a warm, safe haven for
animals and a chance for them to find an adoptive home. The new shelter, built
by generous donations from the community on land donated by Eric H.L. Sexton,
was built in 2000.
